The European Film Academy proudly announces the three nominations in the category EUROPEAN FILM ACADEMY ANIMATED FEATURE FILM 2012.

A committee consisting of EFA Board Member Antonio Saura (producer, Spain) and EFA Member Per Holst (producer, Denmark) as well as representatives of CARTOON, the European Association of Animation Film, Brigitte Baronet (France), Tony Loeser (Germany), and Tomm Moore (Ireland) decided on the following nominations:

ALOIS NEBEL, Czech Republic/Germany/Slovakia
directed by Tomáš Luňák
A black & white tale about the hallucinations of a lonely train dispatcher at the Czechoslovak border.

ARRUGAS (Wrinkles), Spain
directed by Ignacio Ferreras
The story of Emilio and Miguel’s newly formed friendship at their nursing home and the discovery of new beginnings in the most unusual of places

THE PIRATES! IN AN ADVENTURE WITH SCIENTISTS, UK/USA
directed by Peter Lord
In a quest from exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London, a pirate captain fights his rivals for the ‘Pirate of the Year’ award.

The winner will be presented at the European Film Awards Ceremony in Malta on Saturday, 1 December.
